Many people become isolated as they age in place. This happens for a variety of reasons including family and neighbors moving away, friends who pass away, health issues that prevent one from driving or from fear of falling when out and about.
A regular, dependable companion can benefit a senior in so many ways. For example, it has been shown by research that healthy companionship elevates mood levels, and has positive impacts on other physical systems of the body, such as the cardiovascular system. Those who are recovering from traumas or who have recently had surgery will also experience faster recuperation periods when they have consistent and positive interactions with a companion.
Our Companionship Services can be provided from a few hours once or twice a week, to full-time or even live-in senior care, should that be needed. Even a few “short visits a week from one of our wonderful caregivers can make all the difference to our clients. Sometimes this is all that is needed to give them the option to remain in their home, as opposed to moving to a full-time care facility at a much greater expense.
Companionship Services may include:
- Conversation
- Games and puzzles
- Arts and Crafts
- Reading and watching TV together
- Pet Care
- Read mail
- Accompany to hair/nail salon
- Attend outside activities, movies, lunch
- Provide transportation to events
Companionship Services can be incorporated into a Care Plan that may include other services such as Personal Care, Homemaking Services, and Hospital 2 Home Discharge Service.
